Nancy Kramer

Nancy Kramer is a mediator, arbitrator and attorney who specializes in workplace disputes of all types. She handles employment disputes—discharge and promotion; cultural clashes; discrimination and harassment; special accommodations; personality conflicts and more—largely for corporations and government agencies.

Before undertaking her mediation and dispute resolution practice, Nancy had a long legal career in which she held a number of administrative and management positions where she experienced workplace employment issues first hand. She was Special Counsel to the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; Director of Professional Programs, New York University Real Estate Institute; Bureau Chief in the New York State Attorney General's Office; Executive Director of the Committee for Public Justice and staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society.

A graduate of Columbia University Law School (1966, cum laude), and Brandeis University (1963, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), Nancy has also taken extensive training (over 100 hours) in mediation and arbitration. She teaches and coaches frequently, at law schools, in court programs, for such organizations as the American Society for Trainers & Developers (ASTD)-New York and at numerous psychoanalytic institutes.

Barbara Swartz is a law professor, mediator, trainer and facilitator. She specializes in workplace disputes and practices both locally and internationally. Barbara is a Distinguished Professor of Law at Touro Law School, where she teaches Alternative Dispute Resolution, among other courses. Since 2002, she has taught Approaches to Conflict Resolution to American and German law students in a summer law program she created at Potsdam University Law School in Germany.

Barbara is currently a consultant at the United Nations where she has developed a comprehensive mediation program. She teaches mediation skills to staff (in the U.S. and abroad), conducts mediations and teaches employees to communicate more effectively to resolve interpersonal conflicts. Her responsibilities include helping managers and staff increase their awareness of cross cultural, gender, religious, political and racial differences and their impact on the workplace.

Barbara has been a mediator since 1983 and has conducted hundreds of workplace mediations. She has trained lawyers, psychologists, social workers, clergy and employees in many organizations in mediation and communication skills.

A graduate of New York University Law School, Barbara holds master's degrees in public health (Columbia University) and political science (University of Michigan).

She enjoys public speaking and has appeared on television, radio and in print in the United States, Denmark, Japan, Germany and Ireland. Barbara has been a commentator on Court TV since 1993.
