The ABC's of Workplace Mediation and Conflict Resolution

What is Workplace Mediation?

Workplace mediation allows people with a workplace conflict or problem to meet with those involved in the problem and a neutral mediator to try to create a better situation. The mediator helps the parties articulate what they want, explore alternatives and achieve the best possible results. These may include such simple things as an open discussion, an apology or an agreement to share more information. Unlike arbitration, where the parties present their case and the arbitrator renders a decision, the participants carve out their own results (within the constraints of company policy).

What Can Mediation Do for You?

Every part of an organization benefits when a dispute is settled peacefully, quickly and inexpensively. Mediation sessions and their outcomes are confidential, which means no outside publicity or public controversy. Conflicts, whether individual or group, can often be resolved before they develop into more serious legal disputes leading to arbitration or litigation. There is a very high rate of user satisfaction with the process which can result in greater productivity.
